A dangerous situation for Lincoln Firefighters early Thursday morning as they responded to a house fire near 44th and Adams. Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says when crews arrived around 2:45 a.m. there were flames coming from the home and live ammunition going off inside.
Lierman says a neighbor spotted flames coming from a window and called 911. “The neighbor tried putting water on the fire from a hose as the occupant and a dog were self evacuating.” Lierman says the fire started on an ammunition reloading table in the laundry room and spread.
Lierman says there was $127,000 damage to the home and about $75,000 in damage to contents. The home was a total loss and the resident had to be relocated.
